The origin of Valentine’s Day dates back to the times of the Roman Empire during the reign of Claudius II. The Emperor thought a certain Saint Valentine was secretly helping young men and women to get married so he threw him in jail. Whilst there, Saint Valentine fell in love with the daughter of the jailor and wrote her a love note, ending it with "from your Valentine".
